Here Ye Here Ye… Hear me Hear me… Overtime is OUT!

Hello everyone.

Its August 5, 2008. Those that frequent this blog or the myspace knew what Aug. 5 meant. To the unaware, today was the scheduled release date for my newest FREE project “Overtime”. Click HERE or on the above image to download it.

On schedule, it “Has Arrived” in “The Whole Darn Family” fashion for all interested in quality hip hop. This picks up where “Spare Time” left off. As I mentioned in the intro, this is nothing spectacular, it’s more like dessert. I’m pretty excited about this one. It’s FREE and full of media to stimulate your ears and eyes until the next project (Approx. Fall 08). All this is courtesy of JNOTA and The Fudgemunk. Can’t forget our designer Joe Buckingham. Joe is the man behind graphics for many of De La Soul’s classic LP’s.

Check the credits. Something else we’re excited about is “Overtime” bonus material. That will be available shortly. Respect to everyone receiving this material. I have your emails and messages. I saw your profile pics. Thank you. We’ll send to you exclusively. Until then, enjoy the current release and stay tuned for the next. Look forward to your feedback.

Later.

I'm a bit disappointed about the size and new songs, but "Now Generation" sounds really fantastic.

yo damu,
i think an honest opinion is what you appreciate most, right?
i also have to say i feel not dissapointed, but still hungry. i didn't expect bangers, because shit, this is for free and i'm happy you share these beattapes with us! you can't be dissapointed from a free meal, if you don't expect it to be a gourmer dinner!
anyway, i'm still a big fan of your art and your work as an artist. from the first time i found you on youtube in early 2007 i was hooked! you only had the petish beat with the morris sample (you know what i mean) online. i tried to spread the news that hiphop is back, showed your stuff to friends. to this day, i almost watch some of your clips daily. still the dopest shit ever, raw beats, mad talent with rugged videos. that's missing in hiphop today. of course i bought your y-society debut. 4 tracks were really dope, a few were good/ok, few not that good. but it was still the best realease in hiphop for YEARS! respect. but i would have loved just an instrmental lp probably more. sometimes i felt insight overscreamed/-shadowed your fine beats. i would love to hear your beats on some legendary, much more relaxed mcs. your beats are smooth, so the mc should rap! not against your beat, but flow with it. on this is an introduction i felt like insight was destroying your masterful beat.
melodic beats, 90s biz markie, 2007, 2005, classic beat, stupid dumb shit, jazzy bassline...etc etc too many vidclip beats i rock all day. they are to me beat perfection. something wanna hear over and over. addictive shit. hope you can get a deal without comprimises! to spread the rugged raw shit, the pure vibe that pete or primo used to have in the 90s. your street performances are dope too, loving it. keep on rocking & producing. hiphop needs you. and your fans are still mad hungry!!!
wish you the spotlight and also material success that you really deserve. i will defintely kepp supporting your real hiphop and buying your joints.

A crazy piece of work...a true masterpiece. Never saw a free tape that was so ... so artistic and structured! I very enjoyed the full packet the covers your little PDF inlay was the shit man I'm stuck on this one for real!

For the next tape free or what ever : Keep it on this very high level and please please finally release that damn beat with the Biz markie toilet stool sample I heard it on the very first seconds of the overtime intro track and I'm once again burning hot to hear a mp3 version of it!

Damu you are a fucking genius!

Peace and much love from Germany

Yo Damu, thanks for all your hard work on this shittttt.

You should setup a pay pal account so people can donate money for your hard work! I'd be on that for sure!

addition to post August 5, 2008 5:14 PM

i have to say, i won't rank the new tracks on overtime into my fav damu bangers (his output quality is extremely too high!), but the overtime track for example is really growing on me. now generation is a cool smooth beat too, dope bassline! lb was already i fav of mine on the spare time lp along with to rbi, ego trooping.
to all who might got me wrong. i'm not dissapointed at all, actually great for free stuff! better then everything what's coming out these days.
but i want damu's best shit, the legendary youtube beats, all his hidden beats he's saving for important projects on plastic, released, in stores!
his beat tapes are just a small catalog of what he's willing to share for free...it will be hiphop halleluja when finally somebody in the industry recognizes his talent and gives him all artistic freedom to create an lp with his best catalog, without compromizes.

That's funny you know I'm holding back beats. haha

Anonymous said...

Sure man!
Like J.B....a blind man can see ...that your first beattape contained more of your personal "lab": to rbi, ego trooping or the jfk to lax beat. Using well known samples, sort of recreating with your own flavour. Love the stuff. But I'm sure it was during your "practicing" time and you used stuff "to learn".
Most of the vidclip stuff I've heard is another level. "Damu enhanced" haha. Creative new shit.
So it's only logical your holding back the great beats.
Hope the right MC, the right contract/label and the right time arrives soon!
